Letter
from the President
Dear Quilters,
I'm
afraid that summer is finally here! The garden is looking tired and
droopy, breakfast on the deck is not as pleasant as a month ago and
instead of languishing in the sunshine, the cat stretches out on the
cool cement floor of the garage. So what else is new for mid-July?
What better time to hole up inside and quilt, quilt, quilt! Which is
exactly what I have been doing for the past four days at the
Stripper getaway at the Cleek Retreat Center. I'm tired and rested
at the same time, I've eaten too much and accomplished too little.
But everyone had a great time! Most of us got a good start on a
Mystery Quilt - it always amazes me how one pattern can look so
completely different, depending on the fabrics used. You'll see the
results at Show and Tell on the 24th. The patriotic quilt is being
assembled. And what a collection of imaginative blocks!
I know
it's vacation time and many of you will be traveling. Please drive
safely. And don't forget to take along your handwork; you'll find
time to work on it.
Piecefully,
Katharine
